Kashima city is located in the southern part of the Saga region and its famous for the production of fine award-winning sake.
Located in Kashima city, it is one of the three greatest Inari Shrines dedicated to the Inari gods of Japan, along with the Fushimi Inari and Kasama Inari Shrine. You can walk all the way up to the top of the shrine.
Hizen Hamashuku is an area consisting of historical buildings which are under preservation. It is an old shukuba town (resting place for travelers) immersed in a nostalgic landscape.
In 2011 brewery Fukuchiyo Shuzo won the grand prize for its Nabeshima Daiginjo sake at the world's largest blind wine tasting event- the International Wine Challenge.
