Sengan-en Garden

Sengan-en Japanese style landscape garden also known as Iso-teien was constructed in 1658 as the residence for the Shimadzu family, powerful feudal lords of the Satsuma region (present day Kagoshima). It is one of the most famous gardens in Japan known for its ‘borrowed scenery’ where Sakurajima and Kinko Bay are nicely incorporated into the garden landscape.
