This beautiful park stretches over 40 hectares of land and is the most popular relaxation area for the local people. It is the best place for walking, jogging and bird watching. You can also cycle around a large pond (2 km in circumference) and row a boat. In the park you can find a Japanese garden (admission fee 240 yen) popular amongst overseas visitors, the Fukuoka City Art Museum and the Noh Theatre to the north-east of the park. Hanabi Taikai (firework festival) is held here every summer. Near the park are the ruins of Fukuoka castle and it is here where the cherry blossom festival is held.
