Kawagoe

Kawagoe

Kawagoe was a castle town during the Edo period and is known as ‘little Edo’. The city has been served with a preservation order because of its many historic buildings.
Strolling along ‘Ichiban Gai street’ and you get the feeling of travelling back in time to the Edo period. Beautiful old buildings line the way and there is a fine example of a Kurazukuri (a traditional storehouse) - a popular form of architecture during the Edo Period)
