The Enryakuji temple is located in Hiei-zan (Mt.Hiei) lies on the border of Shiga Prefecture and Kyoto Prefecture. The mountain itself is represents Enryakuji temple, so there is no single temple called Enryakuji.

Enryakuji temple is a complex of 15 temple buildings/stapeses and the entire natural environment. Enryakuji is the headquarters of the Tendai sect of Japanese Buddhism with over 1200 years history.
