Sagano Bamboo Grove

Sagano Bamboo Grove
The path through the grove extends about 100 meters from the north exit of Tenryuji Temple to the Okochi Mountain- Villa and is a must-visit site in Arashiyama: probably one of the most photographed sights in Kyoto.

Togetsu-kyo Bridge

Togetsu-kyo literally means ‘moon crossing bridge’ and has been a land mark of Arashiyama for over four hundred years.

Sagano Sightseeing Train also known as the Sagano Romantic Train has been specially designed for sightseeing and runs along the Hozugawa River between Torokko Saga station and Torroko Kameoka station.

Saihoji Temple

Saihoji Temple
Saihoji temple also known as Kokedera (moss temple) is famous for its moss garden but can only take a limited number of visitors at any one time. Visitors are required to make an advance reservation by email. It is masterpiece of the famous Zen monk Muso Soseki. Through time, mosses gradually covered the entire space. There are believed to be 120 different types of moss found in the garden.

Kyoto Bus number 73 runs once or twice hourly from Kyoto Station via Arashiyama

3,000yen. Must book in advance with a stamped addressed postcard: You will be told by return of post, a time and date when you can visit.
