Nachi no taki (Waterfall)

Nachi no taki (Waterfall)

It is the highest waterfall in Japan and an object of worship at the Hiro shrine. The holy site does not have a prayer hall as the waterfall itself is the object of prayer.

The Hiro shrine is associated with Kumano Nachi Grand shrine, which is a part of the sacred sites and pilgrimage Routes designated as World Heritage sites. You can visit this waterfall during part of the Kumano Kodo trek or there is a local bus service. It is 5 min. on foot from ‘Nachi noTaki mae’ bus stop.
