Mt Fuji is one of Japan's most prominent national symbols and is its highest mountain (3,776 m). Mt Fuji stands on the border of Yamanashi and Shizuoka prefecture.
The official climbing season is from early July to mid-September when the trail and mountain facilities are open. When climbing Mt. Fuji, you should be properly equipped and it is recommended to stay overnight at the mountain huts that are on the way to the summit. The Yoshida is the most famous of the three trails and starts at Fuji Subaru Line 5th station (富士スバルライン五合目). There are many mountain huts on the path, however, more than half of the climbers take this particular root, so it can be quite crowded both in the huts and on the trail.
