Ponshu-Kan Sake and Rice museum

Ponshu-Kan is located inside of Echigo-Yuzawa station and has sake tasting experience is on offer where you can taste the leading brands produced by all of the 93 sake breweries in Niigata. For just 500 yen, you will be given a full cup of sake and five tokens, with which you can then buy five more types of sake chosen from the 117 types that they have on offer. Once you have found your favourite, you can buy a bottle (or bottles!) from the shop next door, as well as some local souvenirs. There is even a sake bath, a kind of hot spring that has sake specially made for bathing added to the water. There is also a branch at JR Niigata station and both of them are worth stopping by if you are in the area and have a little bit of free time to have a few drinks! Relax, it is your holiday after all!
