Situated on the banks of the Ginzan River and nestled in the mountains of Obanazawa City, it is one of the most charming onsen towns in Japan. It features traditional three- to four- storey high ryokans lining up along the river. Ryokan guests can be seen strolling down the streets wearing the traditional yukata which makes for the town’s unique atmosphere. There are a few public baths in the town where visitors can relax for a small charge but we highly recommend an overnight stay in a ryokan to fully experience Japanese culture.
