Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Museum

Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Museum

The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum is located within the Peace Memorial Park close to the hypocentre of the bombing. The East Building exhibits a history of Hiroshima before and after the bomb attack. The main building exhibits victims’ belongings and displays items such as a burnt lunch box, photographs, etc.

The museum gives visitors an opportunity to learn about the effects of the bombing and the large number of exhibits teaches us a lesson on the value of peace.

5 min. by local tram (Hiroden) from JR Hiroshima Station
Opening hours:
March-July: 8:30-18:00
August: 8:30-19:00 (Open until 20:00 on August 5 and 6)
September-November: 8:30-18:00
December - February: 8:30-17:00
* Last entry is 30 min. before closing time
* The Museum's East Building is currently closed to visitors but will re-open on April 26th. However, at this point the Main building will close until July 2018.
