Shiretoko Goko is a set of five small lakes surrounded by virgin forests. It’s located on Shiretoko Peninsula in the north-eastern tip of Hokkaido and is part of Shiretoko National Park. Being one of the most remote areas of Japan, the region enjoys unspoiled scenery. The towns of Utoro and Rausu on the eastern side of Shiretoko Peninsula are the starting points for tourists. The pathways along the five-lakes will be closed during winter (normally mid-November to mid-April).
