Itinerary - 7 Days

  1. Day 1

    Location
    Kyoto
    Arrive at Kansai International Airport
    The driver will meet customers at the airport in time for their flight and drop them off at their hotel in Kyoto City. After arriving at the airport, customers may be asked to make their own way to the counter.

    07:50 - 08:45 Depart from Hotel in Kyoto City
    Pick-up service is available at hotels in Kyoto City. Please be at the meeting location at least 10 minutes before departure.
    All transportation on this tour is by bus.

    Nijo Castle (50 min)
    A World Heritage site. Tour the historical castle completed in 1626, which was built to provide lodging for the Tokugawa Shogun and as a palladium for Kyoto Imperial Palace. The impressive, elaborate carvings and decors in the Ninomaru Palace are a must-see.

    Kinkaku-ji Temple (45 min)
    A World Heritage site. The wooden architecture is covered in thin layers of pure gold and is surrounded by a beautiful pond.

    Kyoto Imperial Palace (40 min)
    See the Kyoto Imperial Palace, which was used as the Emperor's residence until about 150 years ago.

    Kitano Tenmangu Shrine (40 min)
    On Mondays (and Tuesdays if a national holiday falls on the preceding Monday), this tour will visit Kitano Tenmangu Shrine instead of the Kyoto Imperial Palace. It is famous for housing the God of scholarship. This shrine's main hall is a designated national treasure. The shrine is especially great to see during the plum blossom and autumn leaf seasons.

    Participants will be provided a set menu meal.

    From Kyoto to Nara
    Head to Nara via Keinawa Expressway

    Todai-ji Temple (Great Buddha) (60 min)
    Nara Park
    A World Heritage site. This is the symbol of the Nara Period and one of the world's largest wooden structures. Its huge main hall and bronze Great Buddha are impressive to behold.

    Kasuga Taisha Shrine (40 min)
    This Nara Period shrine is designated as a World Heritage Site. The deer of Nara Park are thought to be the shrine messengers.

    Nara Nagomikan (Gift Shop) (20 min)
    The largest souvenir shop in Nara. Enjoy yourself in this spacious shop and look for the perfect souvenir.

    17:45 - 19:00 Kyoto Station
    An assistant will guide participants to the station platform, but will not board the Shinkansen.

    From Kyoto Station to Nagoya Station (40 min)

    21:00 - 22:00 Nagoya Station
    An English-speaking tour conductor will meet participants at Nagoya Station. A drop-off service by taxi to accommodations within the city area is available.

    08:40- 08:40 Meet at Tourist Information Center inside Nagoya Station
    The National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter will be waiting for participants holding a placard at the Tourist Information Center inside Nagoya Station.

    *This is not the JR Information Desk; it is the Nagoya Station Tourist Information Center.
    Please take care to go to the correct meeting location.

    09:00 - Depart from JR Nagoya Station
    Ride the limited express train Wide View Shinano (ordinary car, reserved seat)

    Arrive at Nakatsugawa Station / Departure
    Transfer to a route bus. Seats are non-reserved.

    11:10 - 11:10 Arrive at Magome / Sightseeing
    The post town sits on a sloped area which stretches for about 600 meters. The road is paved with stones, and lined with houses that evoke the richness of Japan's history. Take a stroll around Magome where visitors will find a large waterwheel, old Japanese folk houses, historical stone monuments, and more. Those who would like may be guided around the temple lodging next to the Zen temple's main hall. Enjoy some matcha green tea and traditional Japanese sweets.
    *May be unavailable if the Zen temple is closed.
    After sightseeing, take a bus to Tsumago.

    Nakasendo Trail Walking (260 min)
    The tour will walk approximately 3.3 kilometers along the Nakasendo Trail which connects the 2 beautiful post towns of Magome and Tsumago. The tour will take a stroll while enjoying the beautiful valley and rural area scenery with stone-paved streets and Japanese cedar trees.

    Arrive at Tsumago / Sightseeing
    Tsumago is Japan's first post town to preserve its district, creating an area that has seemingly stopped in time 400 years ago.
    Head to the Nagisomachi Museum (Tsumago-juku Honjin & Waki Honjin Okuya). Honjin, the post town's main inn, is where the feudal lords and other people of high status stayed. Afterwards, feel free to enjoy sightseeing. After sightseeing, take a taxi to JR Nagiso Station.
    *The tour may ride in several taxis depending on the number of participants.
    *If taxis are full, the tour may take a route bus instead.

    15:45 - 15:55 Arrive at JR Nagiso Station / Departure
    Ride the limited express train Wide View Shinano (ordinary car, reserved seat)

    17:01 - 17:01 Arrive at JR Nagoya Station

    From Nagoya Station to Tokyo Station (35 min)
    Take the Nozomi Shinkansen (ordinary car, reserved seat) to Kyoto.

    20:30 - 21:30 Tokyo Station

  4. Day 4

    Pick-up service is available at hotel accommodation. Please be at the meeting location at least 10 minutes before departure.

    Mt. Fuji 5th Station (30 min)
    The bus will head up to the 5th Station along the Subaru Line.
    The 5th Station is situated at 2,300 meters (7,546 feet) above sea level. At this height, you will be amazed at spectacular, breathtaking views from above the clouds.

    Lunch (50 min)
    Enjoy lunch.

    Lake Ashi Cruise (15 min)
    This crater lake along the southwest wall of the caldera of Mt. Hakone was formed by a powerful volcanic eruption nearly 3,000 years ago, and provides postcard views of Mt. Fuji towering 30 km northwest. Admire the superb view of Mt. Fuji from aboard a ship.
    *The tour may be guided to another ropeway or an alternative destination if the Lake Ashi cruise operation is suspended, or depending on road conditions, congestion, etc.

    Mt. Komagatake Ropeway (50 min)
    Take a 7-minute ropeway ride to the peak of Mt. Komagatake. A total of 50 minutes will be spent here, including time to walk around at the peak. Take a cableway ride up to the spiritual Hakone Shrine Mototsumiya (original shrine) that nestles at the mountaintop.
    *The tour may be guided to another ropeway or an alternative destination if the Komagatake Ropeway operation is suspended, or depending on road conditions, congestion, etc.

    The tour will depart from Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo for Tokyo sightseeing via tour bus.

    Imperial Palace - Nijubashi Bridge (20 min)
    Formerly known as Edo Castle, this palace is the residence of the Emperor of Japan. The grounds are lush with green foliage and provide a relaxing spot for Tokyoites and visitors alike.

    Kabukiza (Drive-by)

    Tsukiji Outer Market (50 min)
    Japan's No.1 place for seafood with over 400 shops including fresh fish retailers, grocers, and restaurants. Enjoy shopping and try some local food while exploring this one-of-a-kind location.

    Senso-ji Temple & Nakamise Shopping Street (60 min)
    Senso-ji, Tokyo's oldest temple, offers plenty to see including the bright red Kaminarimon Gate, a statue of the god of thunder, and a five-story pagoda. The bustling street known as "Nakamise" stretches for about 250 m from Kaminarimon Gate to Senso-ji Temple and is filled with a plethora of shops.

    ~12:00 Tour Ends at Asakusa
