Itinerary - 14 Days

1. Day 1

   Location

   UK to Tokyo

   You’ll arrive in Tokyo on the next day so sit back, relax and enjoy your flight – Japan awaits!
   Exchange your JR Pass Exchange Order for and start using your 14-Day Japan Rail Pass!

2. Day 2

   Location

   Tokyo

   Arrive in Tokyo - Narita/Haneda International Airport.
   After you arrive, make your own way to the hotel and take some time to get adjusted - or dive right in!
   
   Our suggestion:
   Why not head to Shibuya crossing and try out some Japanese food (and if you're feeling really adventurous some karaoke)?

3. Day 3

   Location

   Tokyo

   WiWith your first full day in Japan, Tokyo is your oyster!
   
   Our suggestion:
   Check out the old and the new in Asakusa, with Sensoji, a 7th century Buddhist temple, hugely popular at new year and then look up at the Sky Tree, Japan's tallest structure. (You're welcome to go up it and look down at everything else, as well!)

4. Day 4

   Location

   Tokyo to Kyoto

   Travel to Kyoto with your JR Pass.
   
   I hope you're ready for some temples!
   What Tokyo is to skyscrapers, Kyoto is to temples. They're everywhere and many of them are spectacular. Particular highlights include Kinkakuji, Kiyomizu-dera, and Roan-ji.

5. Day 5

   Location

   Kyoto, Nara

   Enjoy the day sightseeing in Nara, another old capital renowned for its giant Buddha and deer that roam free throughout the city.

6. Day 6

   Location

   Kyoto

   Free time to explore Kyoto!

7. Day 7

   Location

   Kyoto

   Free time to explore Kyoto!

8. Day 8

   Location

   Hiroshima

   Another day another fantastic location in Japan!
   Hiroshima is the home of the Peace Museum, a sombre but moving and important site.
   
   Additionally, it is home of the Itsukushima Shrine, a beautiful red gate that emerges directly out of the ocean.
   
   On your way, check out the spectacular Himeji Castle! Himeji is the home of the stunning Himeji Castle also known as the 'White Herron Castle', widely regarded as the premier example of traditional Japanese castle architecture. It is both a national treasure and UNESCO World Heritage Site. The view from the top is spectacular, and it is a very popular tourist spot in cherry blossom season.

9. Day 9

   Location

   Hiroshima

   Day trip to Miyajima Island

10. Day 10

    Location

    Osaka

    Time to head to Osaka.
    
    Back to the Future! Osaka may seem a bit like Tokyo-- on the surface. Osaka is the main city in a region called Kansai, known in Japan as being a little less uptight and a little more wild than their Tokyo counterparts. Fantastic food, shopping and nightlife and the people are the real highlights of Osaka. Explore Osaka and travel conveniently using the JR Pass on the Osaka Loop Line.

11. Day 11

    Osaka

12. Day 12

    Location

    Hakone

    Travel from Osaka to spend the night in Hakone, one of the most popular onsen (hot spring) towns with a 1,200 year history. Hakone is a great place for those seeking to escape the hustle and bustle of the nearby mega-city. Hakone is only one hour away from Tokyo and famous for its view of Mt Fuji as well as its beautiful scenery.
    
    Hakone offers a variety of ryokans (a Japanese inn) from luxury ryokans to more affordable ones and all ryokans provide you with an authentic Japanese experience. Hakone Yumoto is the entrance to Hakone hot spring village and the oldest hot spring town in Hakone.

13. Day 13

    Location

    Tokyo

    Return to Tokyo for one last night in Japan’s capital before returning the next day.

14. Day 14

    Location

    Tokyo to UK

    Travel to the airport to fly home from Tokyo.
