Board the Shinkansen on your own from Tokyo Station
08:30 - 09:20 Arrive at Nagano Station
Meet up with the guide and participants on the Nagano Departure-Nagano Arrival course at Nagano Station.
09:40 - Depart from Nagano Station
10:10 Visit Zenko-ji Temple (40 min)
Visit Zenko-ji Temple, which boasts 1,400 years of rich history. Its main hall is a designated national treasure.
11:00 Japanese Soba noodle Lunch (40 min)
The meal for lunch includes soba (buckwheat) noodles, a Nagano specialty. As traces of buckwheat flour may be present in the entire shop, those with buckwheat allergy may be unable to enter.
11:40 Depart from Zenko-ji Temple
12:30 Arrive at Roman Museum Parking Lot
Depart from Parking Lot and walk to Jigokudani Monkey Park (40-50 min)
This is a hard walking tour covering about 40 minutes of walking each way between the Roman Museum parking lot and Jigokudani Monkey Park.
Please note that we are unable to provide special support for those with trouble walking, or small children.
Also, the walking path may be frozen and slippery if there is snow. Please wear winter boots or other non-slip footwear. The temperature in the area in winter averages about -1°C, so it may be quite cold. Please wear warm clothing.
13:20 Jigokudani Monkey Park (50 min)
Visit the Jigokudani Monkey Park, a world-famous park where Japanese macaques can be seen up close as they freely soak in hot springs. This is the only place in the world where wild Japanese macaques can be seen bathing in their own designated hot spring. Enjoy seeing the amusing expressions of the monkeys up close as they warm themselves with a relaxing hot spring bath.
The behaviour of wild monkeys is unpredictable. The park will be closed to visitors in case the monkeys do not come down to the park from the mountains. The tour may be cancelled on the day before tour departure in such cases. A full refund will be issued if the tour is cancelled.

The tour will not enter Roman Museum.
2. Please refer to the tickets and final itinerary for the train numbers and times. Requests for specific Shinkansen times are not accepted. The tickets and final itinerary will be delivered to your specified address at least one day before departure.
If the address for the tickets and final itinerary to be sent to changes after booking, please inform us at least 8 days prior to the tour departure date
3. Shinkansen times may not be able to change. Please board the designated Shinkansen.
4. The round-trip course from Nagano is recommended instead for those with a JR Pass.
5. An English-speaking interpreter-guide will accompany the tour from arrival at JR Nagano Station until tour ends at JR Nagano Station.
6. As space is limited on Shinkansen and buses, please leave large luggage such as suitcases at your prior night’s hotel.
7. The itinerary is subject to change on the tour date depending on traffic conditions and other factors.
