Japan's Art Island: Naoshima

Itinerary - 2 Days

1. Day 1

   Location

   Naoshima

   Benesse House

   Into the Seto Inland Sea! Take a ferry from Uno port in Okayama on a short twenty minute journey over to Naoshima. Ferries leave every hour or so, so you have some flexibility with your times. (Return ticket: 560 yen payable at site.)
   
   Upon check in at the Bennesse hotel, you will be given a ticket to the museum itself. Feel free to explore this museum whenever you please. There are plenty of other museums and galleries on the island and they are all a short bus journey away from each other. Bicycles are another popular way of exploring the island and the very adventurous can move between the some of the sites on foot, although this is quite the journey!

2. Day 2

   We hope you have enjoyed your stay at Bennesse House. There are certainly few museums or hotels like it!
   You are free to explore the rest of the island for as long as you please. There is also a quirky bathhouse that many visit on their trip to the island.
   
   Our suggestion:
   Do not miss the Chichu or Art House Projects! Along with the Bennesse itself, this writer believes those two to be especially unforgettable. The Lee Ufan and Ando museums are also fantastic, but if you have to prioritise...
   
   Ferries leave to go back to Uno roughly every hour until 9.15PM, so you are welcome to watch the sunset from this magical island before returning to the Japan mainland.
   e.g. depart Miyanoura port at 16:40 / arrive Uno port at 17:00
