We had a wonderful time!
A slight issue was the weather. It rained throughout and we became expert umbrella carriers! but I think because of the cooler weather there was still blossom everywhere, and also fewer tourists, which were unexpected bonuses.
Other main feedback is that I was so impressed with the standard of food everywhere, had no idea it was going to be that good. And am finding I am really missing that quality now we are back in the UK. the exchange rate was very much in our favour so really nowhere near as expensive as I had expected.
The Ghibli museum was a major highlight of our trip - it's a beautiful building and the experience of being there is very rewarding. Again thank you so much for getting us tickets - how did you do it!!.
The Nara ryokan was lovely - the food was absolutely delicious thought the menu did not have any translation so I have no idea about some of what I ate! The service was also excellent. It was good being there on the weekend with the park full of Japanese people and not just tourists.
Temple lodging experience was interesting and rewarding though we unfortunately arrived a little late in the evening. I had underestimated how long to travel from Nara. It was great to be there at the 1200th anniversary - there are a lot of extra events happening and we witnessed a few ceremonies in the morning which were interesting.
I probably needed to do more research on the train connections before leaving. The advice we got on the ground was super helpful but sometimes inaccurate so we got a bit lost going to Koyasan.
Of general interest was the sense that manga and anime is more respected outside Japan than inside. The Anime centre in Tokyo was two small rooms and not really worth the visit to Electric City. On the other hand, The Manga Museum in Kyoto was a gem for my daughter. A gem for me was the Raku tea bowl Musuem.
We enjoyed ourselves so much we have decided to go back in three years time!
Thank you for everything you did to make our trip so special - you both spent a lot of time I feel and I do really appreciate your efforts.
With sincere thanks,
A.Miller

Train Travel
Thank you! I have put the rail travel 1st in the above question because the railways are so efficient and we could not have done half as much travelling without them. My Son lives In JAPAN so this was a family Holiday We started with 3 days in Tokyo, then to his home in Takasaki, our rail pass started there. We travelled West as far as Hiroshima and the inland sea, it was beautiful there. We visited cities and towns en-route, an absolutely wonderful and inspiring journey especially the Hiroshima Peace park. We saw amazing Shrines and gardens, Brilliant shops and restuarants. We met lots of great people, in particular the staff of some good hotels We (my Wife ,Son and Daughter in Law)had a marvellous time, a real experience, and we thank everyone who helped to make this trip perfect.

Japan is a beautiful country filled with a diverse range of places to see, things to do and foods to eat.
The distinct difference between rural Japan & the metropolis's are vast. I would highly recommend for anyone visiting Japan to see both spectrums as one without the other will distort your view.
Miyajima, Kyoto & Tokyo are a must see. The other locations have unique attributes that are worth visiting as well.
In regards to food, being a vegetarian there were times which we struggled to find viable options. However, we consciously knew food will be a struggle so we researched potential venues daily. In addition, we were not picky.
On a separate note, I would like to thank Sandy & the team at Japan Travel. They were patient, informative, helped us organise a large chunk of the trip, forever quick to reply and always helpful. Thank you!

Japanese food
We enjoyed everything. We have marked food because it is top of your list.
We would certainly book with Japan Travel again. The price was very acceptable. The level of service first rate: quick, informed, always polite and above all, Japan Travel did not try to push products on us. It gave us the possibilities and let us choose. There was no 'over sell', which can be very counter productive in the tourist/service industry.

We had a good week to spend in Japan, and approached with our ideas about where to go the Japan Travel Centre (JTC). Wakako from the JTC was a real gem in helping us to make the best of this week! Very patiently she went with us through all finalising stages, supported us with lots of information on hotels and means of travel, and in the end provided us with all relevant paperwork (vouchers, tickets, train connections etc).
We travelled with a young child, and the hotels and Ryokans Wakako suggested were great, and very suitable for our requirements.
Many thanks!

My best friend and I visited Japan for 2 weeks and wanted to spend 5 days in Kyushu island. We did some research and found it really tough to get info and make arrangements with our meager Japanese language skills. With less than a week to go before we flew, we panicked a bit and thought to contact Japan Travel Centre for assistance with Kyushu. THANK goodness that we did!
The London and Fukuoka offices were very responsive, knowledgeable and helpful. They were able to plan out a bespoke itinerary for us based on where we wanted to go and make all arrangements very fast. And this was just the beginning!
They went above and beyond at every opportunity, meeting us in person at the train station in Fukuoka to assist us with final travel arrangements, providing wonderful suggestions for cultural activities, preparing maps and itineraries, even calling a hotel which we had booked ourselves to help us arrange a shuttle bus connection.
Kyushu Island was the jewel in the crown of our trip to the Japan and Japan Travel Centre not only helped make our visit there smooth as can be, their exceptional assistance truly helped us to make the most of our visit.
Truly the finest travel agency customer service I've ever experienced and I would highly recommend their services.

My sister an I had a wonderful time, its our first time and definitely won't be the last.
We spent 5 days in Kyushu and wish if was 5 weeks or months! We fell in love with the Onsen experience and all the Japanese food we've had, some were heavenly. Although not many local people speak English they all are very helpful and nice. All the places we visited we enjoyed everything.
Yufuin in particular is a little gem, it is a qaint and peaceful place, it has the best Onsens that we felt truly relaxed and recharged, in body and spirit. We stayed at Yufuin Sansuikan, its at a good location and the staff made you feel welcome all the time, their Onsen were 1st class and the food are unforgettable. The rooms are comfortable but can do with a lick of paint.
At Beppu we enjoyed the hell springs tour, our hotel Shiragiku was also very nice, unfortunately we found the tatami room and Japanese dining room are uncomfortable, we will learn the lesson and request for western rooms next time. It was a lovely hotel and its onsen was very good too, food were excellent.
We spent 3 days in Kyoto and enjoyed many cultural experience, gardens and cheery blossoms there. All in all we have covered a lot in such short space of time, now we look forward to visit Japan again.

Historical sites(e.g. Temples, Shrines)
We used a comination of rail and car travel outside of the urban areas e.g. Kamikochi. Public transport is fantastic and driving within urban areas is not recommended but gives greter freedom in rural locations. We did alot or research in advance to plan our route, but JapanTravel were fantastic in making most of the arrangements and answering all our questions. We even has some on the ground support from their local representative in Fukuoka which was completely unexpected and very very helpful. We recommend Japan Travel highly.

Perfect organisation and local support from Sunrise agents - we felt very well looked after. The tour covered all the most must-see places and the main focus on historical sites and gardens was just what we wanted. It was a slight pity only that with such a packed programme there was often too little time at many of the places. The four journeys with the Shinkansen were great experiences. Hotel quality was very high and exceeded our expectations. The visit to Hiroshima was very moving and we were really happy that it was included. All in all a wonderful experience for a first visit to Japan and this 9 day tour is highly recommended.
