Although Nozawa is well known for having lots of snowfall in all seasons and for its excellent powder snow, the nostalgic cobbled streets, the traditional ryokan, and in particular, the hot springs are the most famous things about Nozawa among Japanese. The history of Nozawa goes all the way back to the eighth century, when the monk Gyoki was believed to have discovered the first hot springs there. Today, there are about 30 hot springs, of which 14 are public. The public hot springs are free of charge, although you are welcomed to make a donation, and you will have to bring your own towel and soap. Among the most recognisable of these is Oyu Onsen, the beautiful building reminiscent of the Edo era. This is the largest and grandest of the public bath houses – a must-visit bath for visitors to Nozawa. Skiing in Nozawa is excellent. Since the first slopes were built in 1912, skiing and snowboarding in Nozawa have been wholeheartedly embraced, and in 1998 the town hosted the biathlon even during the Nagano Winter Olympics. Today, there are over 50km of pistes, with a good mix for various levels depending on your experience (beginner, intermediate or advanced). Also there are a board park , half pipe for snow boarders and Nozawa Kids Park for children and families. Between the historic town with its nostalgia for bygone times, relaxing hot springs, great restaurants, top class skiing, and even a few monkeys running about the place, we couldn’t recommend Nozawa enough. Another advantage in Nozawa is that the town is very close to Tokyo and Kyoto, so your ski trip to Japan can be easily combined with a cultural visit to one of the main cities. 【Price】 Adult from £978 / Child from £897 【Departure date】 From 15 Dec 2018 till 23 Feb 2019 Every Saturday depart from UK - Low: 15 Dec 2018, 05 Jan 2019, 12 Jan 2019, 19 Jan 2019, 26 Jan 2019, 02 Feb 2019, 09 Feb 2019, 16 Feb 2019, 23 Feb 2019 - Middle: 22 Dec 2018, - Peak: 29 Dec 2018 【Land arrangement】 Based on our attached itinerary.
