Ouchi juku is the former post town along the Aizu West route which connected Aizu Wakamatsu (Fukushima) and Nikko (Tochigi) in the Edo period.
The former Honjin, the officially appointed inn for high ranking government officials, is also located along the main street and is open to the public as a museum.
Ouchi juku is a town where the original ambience of the past has been preserved. The area has been labelled an Important Preservation Districts for Groups of Traditional Buildings.
