Tour Detail

Kyoto, Nara and Kobe.

Experience history in the Kansai region of Japan. The Kansai area is the home of Kyoto, a city with a whopping 17(!) World Heritage sites, and many other amazing temples, shrines and castles beyond even these. Also in Kansai is Osaka, a sprawling metropolis with a totally different feel to Tokyo. Nara, an even older capital than Kyoto is famous for its wandering deer and its giant Buddha statue. Kobe is a pleasant seaside town world famous for its beef. In Wakayama, there is the famous Mt. Koya, the spiritual home of Shingon Buddhism. There is also Himeji, a city known for its magnificent white castle, known as one of the best in Japan.

Kansai is full of possibilities and with a good base in Kyoto you can make the most of many of them.

Itinerary - 4 Days

  1. Day 1

    Location
    Kyoto
    Hotel
    Hotel Granvia Kyoto
From your base in Kyoto, you are free to explore anywhere in the Kansai area.

    Our suggestion:
With your first day we recommend you get acquainted with Kyoto itself, a city full to the brim with amazing castles, temples and shrines. We would recommend you start West, with Kinkaku-ji, the golden pavilion, then Roan-ji, an amazing zen rock garden temple. Next, move through the centre and check out Nijo-jo, the home of the Shogun for many years. Finally, out East, you can head to the Kiyomizu-dera, a temple with a beautiful view of the city and its beautiful wooden stage. This tour encapsulates many of the great sites of Kyoto.
  2. Day 2

    Location
    Kyoto
    Hotel
    Hotel Granvia Kyoto
Your second day! What to do...

    Our recommendation:
We would advise that you spend the morning in Nara and check out the lovely Todaji Temple, home to the giant Buddha and the surrounding park where deer roam free. In the afternoon, you could head to Osaka for some shopping and dinner, before heading back to Kyoto later in the evening.
  3. Day 3

    Location
    Kyoto
    Hotel
    Hotel Granvia Kyoto
    Day 3 is here already!

    Our recommendation:
In the morning, you could head down to the Fushimi Inari Shrine, a very popular location known for its hundreds and hundreds of red gates, leading a path up a mountain. In the afternoon, you could head to Kobe and splash some cash for some of the most delicious beef you will ever taste!
  4. Day 4

    Location
    Kyoto
Once you check out from your hotel, you are free to explore until its time for your flight. You can use your pass to make your way back to the airport. We hope you have enjoyed your time in Kansai!
