Tour Detail

Kyoto, Hiroshima, Kurashiki, Mt Fuji & Tokyo.

A tour that takes you to the well-known spots and makes a slight detour to a path less travelled but nonetheless stunning. A stroll along the street lined with ‘storehouses’ next to the preserved canal area in Kurashiki offers a serene experience.

Itinerary - 9 Days

  1. Day 1

    Location
    Osaka > Kyoto
    Osaka Airport
    Representative from the taxi company will meet participants at the airport and assist in boarding a pre-reserved taxi.

    Remarks: Participants arriving at Kansai Airport before 8:00 A.M. or after 8:00 P.M. are to proceed to the Shared Taxi Ticket Counter.
    After arrival at hotel, free time in Kyoto.
  2. Day 2

    Location
    Kyoto
    08:00 - 08:40 Depart from Hotel in Kyoto City
    All transportation on the tour will be by bus.

    Remarks: In some cases participants will be picked up by taxi and taken to the bus terminal to transfer to the tour bus.

    Nijo Castle (50 min)
    A UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tour the historical castle completed in 1626, which was built to provide lodging for Tokugawa Shogun and as a palladium for Kyoto Imperial Palace.

    Remarks: Nijo Castle is closed on Tuesdays (or Wednesday if Tuesday is a national holiday) in January, July, August, and December and over the New Year's holidays. On these days, the tour will visit Ryoan-ji Temple.

    Kinkaku-ji Temple (45 min)
    Visit this World Heritage Site, also known as the Golden Pavilion. The wooden architecture is covered in thin layers of pure gold and is surrounded by a beautiful pond.

    Kyoto Imperial Palace (Mondays to Fridays) (40 min)
    The Kyoto Imperial Palace is the former ruling palace of the Emperor of Japan and served as residence since 1869.

    Note: Kitano Tenmangu Shrine is visited as a substitute when Kyoto Imperial Palace is closed.

    Kitano Tenmangu Shrine (Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and specific days) (40 min)
    This shrine's main hall is a designated national treasure and is famous for housing the God of scholarship. The shrine is especially great to see during the plum blossom and autumn leaf seasons.

    12:40 - 13:00 Arrive at Kyoto Station.
    Tour ends after arrival at Kyoto Station.

    Remarks: There will be no drop-off service to hotels from the station.
  3. Day 3

    Location
    Kyoto > Hiroshima
    07:35 - 08:00 Pick-up Service
    From hotels in Kyoto City to Kyoto Station.

    Remarks: Please note that no stop will be made for lunch. Lunch is not included in the tour. We recommend purchasing lunch before departure and eating on the train.

    Kyoto Station (125 min)
    From Kyoto Station to Hiroshima Station aboard the Nozomi or Hikari Shinkansen (reserved seating).

    Remarks: A tour assistant will accompany participants only until boarding, and will not accompany them on the trip.

    Arrive at Hiroshima Station
    Walk to Hotel Granvia Hiroshima

    10:30 - From Miyajimaguchi go to Miyajima Port (5 min)
    Take the ferry to Miyajima.

    Miyajima, Itsukushima Shrine
    (Please have lunch on your own) (120 min)
    Itsukushima Shrine is a World Heritage Site. Established in the 6th century, it is famous for its beautiful Shinden-zukuri style structure (architecture representative of a noble's residence in the Heian period). See the vermillion shrine sitting in a lush environment facing the deep blue sea and enjoy the picturesque beauty.

    From Miyajima Port to Miyajimaguchi (5 min)
    Take ferry to Miyajimaguchi.

    Miyajimaguchi (30 min)
    Take the bus to Peace Memorial Park.

    Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park & Museum (100 min)
    This large-scale park was established in 1949 after the Pacific War ended, and is visited by countless visitors as a symbol of peace. The museum within the park is an Important Cultural Property of Japan, and was built to remind future generations of the terror wrought by atomic bombs.

    Atomic Bomb Dome
    The Atomic Bomb Dome is a symbol of the disastrous atomic bombing during WWII, the first atomic bombs used in human history, and has been preserved as it was to promote peace and elimination of atomic weapons around the world.

  4. Day 4

    Walk to Hiroshima Station.

    From Hiroshima Station to Shin-Kurashiki Station (90 min)
    (Kodama Shinkansen, reserved seating)

    From Shin-Kurashiki Station to the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter
    Transportation will be on a JR train (local service, non-reserved seating) and a taxi when the number of participants are less than 6.

    Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter (80 min)
    Stroll through many of the original storehouses that have been preserved from the Edo and Meiji Periods (Edo: 1603–1868, Meiji: 1868–1912)

    Western-style lunch at Kurashiki Kokusai Hotel (60 min)

    Ohara Museum of Art (40 min)
    Not only the collection of modern and western art, but the ancient Greek architecture and the ivy-covered stone walls also attract many visitors.

    Kurashiki Station to Okayama Station (20 min)
    (JR Local Train/Non-reserved seating)

    Okayama Station
    Take a taxi to Okayama Korakuen

    Okayama Korakuen (40 min)
    One of the three most beautiful gardens in Japan, and represents the Genroku Culture of the early Edo Period.

    Okayama Station
    Take a taxi to Okayama Station.

    From Okayama Station to Kyoto Station (90 min)
    (Hikari Shinkansen, reserved seating)

    18:50 - 19:30 Arrive at Kyoto Station
    Participants will be taken to their hotels by taxi.
  5. Day 5

  6. Day 6

    Location
    Shizuoka > Mt. Fuji > Tokyo

    06:45 - 07:20 Pick-up Service
    From hotels in Kyoto, head to New Miyako Hotel.

    07:50 - 10:15 Depart from Kyoto Station (135 min)
    Board a Tokaido Shinkansen (Hikari or Kodama) in the reserved section.
    Staff will not board the Shinkansen train with you.

    10:30 - Shizuoka Station
    The tour will depart from Shizuoka Station by bus for sightseeing.

    Nihondaira Ropeway (5 min)
    Board this 1,065-meter-long ropeway which connects the peak of Nihondaira and Kunozan Toshogu Shrine. From the ropeway window a view of Suruga Bay and, on clear days, Izu Peninsula, can be enjoyed.

    Kunozan Toshogu Shrine (30 min)
    A shrine dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, a shogun from the Edo period.
    The main hall, Ishi-no-ma, and worship hall are designated National Treasures. The shrine's beautiful lacquering and carvings are a must-see.

    Nihondaira Ropeway (5 min)
    The ropeway will be used for the return trip as well.

    Nihondaira Ocha Kaikan (20 min)
    Tour the tea plantation here which looks out onto Mt. Fuji and Suruga Bay.
    Taste testing of the Japanese tea made here is available, and tea can be purchased as well.

    Shimizu (50 min)
    Enjoy fresh handmade sushi at this port town for lunch.

    Shizuoka City Tokaido Hiroshige Museum of Art (30 min)
    The 16th post town along the Tokaido road, Yui-shuku is known around the world for the art museum featuring ukiyo-e woodblock prints by master Utagawa Hiroshige. Enjoy the museum which features approximately 1,400 ukiyo-e works.

    Mt. Fuji 2nd Station (15 min)
    Enjoy the view of the mountain from Mt. Fuji's 2nd Station at an altitude of 1,500 meters.

    17:00 - 18:30 Depart from Mishima Station (90 min)
    Board a Tokaido Shinkansen (Hikari or Kodama) in the reserved section. The Shinkansen will make stops at Shin-Yokohama and Shinagawa.

    18:30 - 20:00 Arrive at Tokyo Station
    Shuttle service from Tokyo Station to hotels in Tokyo.
  7. Day 7

    From hotel to Hamamatsucho Bus Terminal

    09:00 - Hamamatsucho Bus Terminal
    The tour departs Hamamatsucho Bus Terminal to begin sightseeing around Tokyo.

    Tokyo Tower (30 min)
    Get a spectacular view of Metropolitan Tokyo from the observation deck

    Imperial Palace Plaza (10 min)
    Admire the view of Nijubashi Bridge and the surrounding scenery at this National Garden that was formerly a private garden of the Royal Family.

    Asakusa Kannon & Shopping at Nakamise (45 min)
    Of the 33 temples in Eastern Japan dedicated to the Goddess Kannon, this is the only one in the capital (No. 13 on the pilgrimage to all 33 temples). Visit this historic area which includes Nakamise-dori, the street leading to the temple.

    Ueno & Akihabara (drive-by)
    Enjoy a pleasant drive through Ueno, where Tokyo's first coffee shop once stood, to Akihabara which is home to the famous Electric Town.

    12:30 - Tokyo Station (Marunouchi South Exit)
    Disembarking only.

    12:50 - Tour ends at Hamamatsucho Bus Terminal
    Participants will be dropped off at Hamamatsucho Bus Terminal. There is no shuttle service to hotels after the tour.
  8. Day 8

    Location
    Tokyo
    Free time all day (Accommodation in Tokyo)
    The tour disbands upon arrival. Please head to your next destination on your own from Tokyo Station.
  9. Day 9

    Location
    Tokyo
    After hotel checkout, free time until departure
    From Hotel to Tokyo Airport
    A taxi will take you from the hotel to the airport.
